In 1946, during my last year at Wellington Girls College, six of us sang at the Prize Giving Ceremony held in the Wellington Town Hall.

We agreed that we sang better than in the school hall. No doubt it wasn’t us at all, it was the Town Hall acoustics.

The following year, I was delighted to go to the first performance of the newly established National Orchestra at the Town Hall.

In 1948, I moved to Dunedin to go to Otago University and I am fortunate to have lived here ever since where I am able to enjoy the also excellent acoustics of the Dunedin Town Hall, built in 1929, at NZSO concerts.
